ABOUT

Hudson De Maeijer are award winning, contemporary Landscape Architects and Garden Designers working in London & Hertfordshire. Jane and her husband Erik, have successfully exhibited four show gardens at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show as well as completing numerous large and small projects for a broad range of clients.

With an instinctive connection to nature, Jane & Erik are drawn to natural forms. The designs are often organic yet feature strong natural lines with geometric form and structure. The spaces are uncomplicated and generous, functional yet relaxed and unpretentious. Strong lines are softened by sumptuous planting palettes, and natural materials like stone and timber are used in a clean, crisp way to create contemporary gardens for today and tomorrow.

Hudson De Maeijer's designs are a direct and measured response to the site, and the needs of their clients, with a distinctive process based on a premise that gardens do not need to be complicated. ‘We listen and respect our client’s requirements and the environment, formulating a response that will always be simple and functional, but above all beautiful'.

Inspired by natural patterns, rhythms, and the colour & textural changes the seasons bring, the team also draws from architecture, furniture, jewellery, and the many facets of contemporary design, to create modern, timeless, yet original landscapes.

Jane is honoured to have been an RHS assessor and judge for all major RHS shows for over 15 years. These have included show gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show and Hampton Court Palace, Malvern Spring Show and Tatton Park.

She currently sits on several selection committee panels for RHS shows, including Young Planting Designer and Young designers for Tatton Park, Conceptual Garden selection panels for Hampton Court and more recently show gardens at Hampton Court and Chelsea. Jane also helped revise and develop the Clients Brief for judging.
